Culinary Nutrition Coaching

Building a sustainable, culturally rooted relationship with food

My Philosophy

Addition Over Subtraction

I don't work from a place of restriction. Most of the families and individuals who come to me have already tried the elimination diets, the rigid rules, the guilt. What I offer instead is addition: what can we bring into your meals that supports how you want to feel, without asking you to abandon the dishes that carry memory, comfort, and identity?

Clean eating, as it's often marketed, assumes a kitchen, a budget, and a body that many people simply don't have. My approach starts from where you are and builds outward, one ingredient, one habit, one meal at a time.

This is coaching, not a meal plan handed to you on day one. We work together on the skills, habits, and knowledge that make cooking at home feel possible again, shaped around the traditions and rhythms of your household.

Who This Is For

●      Parents wanting hands-on support around a child's sensory food aversions or picky eating

●      Adults looking to build steadier eating habits alongside ADHD or anxiety, through skills and routine rather than a prescribed protocol

●      Families wanting to blend cultural food traditions with general healthy-eating goals

●      Anyone tired of nutrition advice that doesn't account for real budgets, real schedules, or real kitchens

●      Clients already working with a physician, dietitian, or therapist who want coaching support to put nutrition guidance into practice at home

A Note on Scope

Culinary Nutrition Coaching is educational and behavioral. I teach cooking skills, share general nutrition information, and coach the habits that make healthy eating sustainable. I don't diagnose, treat, or prescribe therapeutic diets for medical conditions. If your needs call for medical nutrition therapy, I'll gladly coordinate with, or refer you to, a registered dietitian or physician, and continue supporting the behavior-change side of the work alongside them.

How We Begin

A culinary nutrition coaching relationship at Sacred Mind Institute starts with an initial consultation, where we talk through your history with food, your goals, and what's realistic for your life right now. From there, I build a coaching plan that grows with you, revisited and adjusted as your needs shift.

What Culinary Nutrition Coaching Looks Like.

As a health coach, I work in the space between knowing what's healthy and actually being able to do it. That means hands-on cooking support, general nutrition education grounded in public health guidance, and steady behavior-change coaching, rather than prescribed diets or treatment for a diagnosed condition.

●      Cooking demonstrations, knife skills, and health-supportive prep techniques

●      Recipe collections, meal-prep strategies, and grocery shopping guidance

●      General nutrition education grounded in public resources like USDA MyPlate and basic macronutrient concepts

●      Culturally rooted meal planning, with substitutions that honor your food traditions rather than replace them

●      Coaching around sensory-based food aversions and expanding a limited food repertoire, at a pace that works for your family

●      Behavior-change coaching to help you build sustainable habits in the kitchen, not just a list of rules

About Me

I'm Veronica Paris, and my work sits at the intersection of two things I care about deeply: mental health and food. I'm a licensed mental health therapist, and I've spent years in the therapy room watching how much of a person's healing depends on how they're nourished, and how much of what we call 'nutrition' ignores the nervous system entirely. Culinary Nutrition Coaching is where I bring those two worlds together.

I'm originally from Mexico, and that background shapes how I show up in this work. Cultural sensitivity isn't an add-on for me. It's the starting point, because the families I work with come from all kinds of food traditions, and none of them should have to abandon their own table to build a healthier one.

I trained as a health coach through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition, graduating in 2013, and that foundation has stayed with me through everything since: the idea that health isn't one-size-fits-all, and that real change happens through relationship, not restriction. I'm currently completing my PhD in Functional Nutrition, which includes a specialization in Culinary Nutrition for Mental Health, and that ongoing work lets me bring an evidence-informed, food-as-medicine lens into the coaching work without ever losing sight of what's actually realistic in someone's kitchen and someone's life.

As a parent navigating my own kids' sensory needs and food sensitivities, I don't come to this work from theory alone. I know what it's like to sit across from a plate that feels like a battleground, and I built Sacred Mind Institute to offer families and individuals something gentler than what most nutrition advice makes available.
